Introduction of the Department of Geology
Geology, the scientific study of the Earth, is a dynamic and essential discipline that seeks to understand the origin, structure, composition, and processes of our planet. The Department of Geology is dedicated to exploring the Earth’s materials, from rocks and minerals to fossils and soils, as well as the forces that shape landscapes over time. Our focus ranges from studying microscopic mineral structures to analyzing large-scale geological formations and tectonic processes.
Beyond the study of Earth materials, the department emphasizes understanding geological processes such as plate tectonics, volcanism, sedimentation, and the evolution of the Earth through deep time. It also highlights the importance of natural resource management, disaster mitigation, and environmental protection in a rapidly changing world. Through teaching, research, and field-based learning, we aim to contribute to scientific knowledge and sustainable development.
